Before you travel
Your pet should be healthy and fit for any journey.
Before you intend to travel:
- get advice from your vet on how best to transport your pet and protect its welfare
- make sure your pet has received all the relevant documentation, certificates or passports, identification and vaccines
- remember to tell your ferry operator when you book that you are travelling with your pet

At the terminal
Before arriving at Elizabeth Harbour terminal, make sure your pet is happy and comfortable in the car or container they are travelling in.
When you check in for your ferry, make sure:
- the ferry operators know you have a live animal in your car or in a travel container if you are a foot passenger
- your pet is comfortable and has enough food and water for the journey, or any toys that may help them feel more settled
- your pet has enough ventilation, but make sure they cannot escape
If you are travelling with a dog, we recommend walking your dog before you get to the terminal so they can take a bathroom break.
Once you check in, you can walk your dog on a lead outside of the terminal building, in the vicinity of your vehicle until your ferry operator staff instruct you to board the ferry. You must pick up and dispose of any dog mess.
Pet travel documents
Pet owners are responsible to comply with the pet travel rules of the country they are travelling to. Failure to do so may prevent your pet from being permitted to travel.
