Sustainability accreditations

EcoPorts

EcoPorts is the main environmental initiative of the European port sector. It was initiated by a number of proactive ports in 1997 and has been fully integrated into the European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) since 2011. The overarching principle of EcoPorts is to raise awareness on environmental protection through cooperation and sharing of knowledge between ports and improve environmental management.

We are proud to have received our EcoPorts PERS certified accreditation.

The Port Environmental Review System (PERS) incorporates the main general requirements of recognised environmental management standards (for example, ISO 14001) and also takes into account the specificities of ports. PERS builds upon the policy recommendations of European Sea Ports Organisation and gives ports clear objectives to aim for.

EcoActive Business Leader

EcoActive is a government owned environmental management scheme business network for organisations operating in Jersey. Joining the network helps a business to:

  • improve efficiency
  • reduce running costs
  • prevent waste
  • improve business reputation
  • show you follow environmental legislation
  • reduce the risk of causing pollution or other negative environmental impacts

Leaders of the eco active business network work to a high environmental standard and have had a third-party audit to confirm this. They continue to improve by setting actions and targets.

Airport Carbon Accreditation

Airport Carbon Accreditation is the only institutionally-endorsed, global carbon management certification programme for Airports. Through independent assessment, airports are recognised for their efforts to manage and reduce carbon emissions.

We’ve been awarded Level 3 ACI Carbon Accreditation for Jersey Airport. To achieve Level 3, Optimisation, we’ve built a robust carbon management and stakeholder engagement plans, which we’re successfully implementing.

It has accreditation levels of 1 to 5 and provides a unique common framework for active carbon management at airports, through site-specific operational activities, reviewing daily environmental management activities and a long-term strategy to support and guide airports through continual improvement.
