Jet2’s expansion plans are set to boost travel options for Islanders from next summer. The airline’s new twice-weekly service to Bournemouth will offer an alternative route to the UK regions, and expanded services to Newcastle, East Midlands and Leeds Bradford will offer 50% more seats in 2026 compared to 2025.

Ports of Jersey’s Chief Operating Officer, Stephen King, said: “We are delighted that our partnership with Jet2 has seen growth in both air routes and passenger numbers in the 17 years since they started flying here. Jet2’s continued investment in Jersey is a strong vote of confidence in our Island and its future as an attractive destination. This decision to expand their routes and capacity provides a major boost for connectivity, tourism, and the local economy.

“We plan to maintain the resilience of our air links, with backing from Government’s support package, and develop our connectivity through the kinds of productive partnerships that we have established with the airlines that serve Jersey. We’re proud to work with Jet2 and look forward to building on this partnership to deliver even more choice and convenience for both Islanders and visitors.”

The new service to Bournemouth will provide more than 7,000 seats for both Islanders and visitors, and the extra weekly flight to Newcastle will increase the available capacity by 90%. We will also see extended summer seasons for East Midlands and Leeds Bradford.

This expansion is being supported by the Government of Jersey’s better business support package, which reflects the Government’s commitment to the visitor economy.

The Minister for Sustainable Economic Development, Deputy Kirsten Morel, said: “I’m delighted with this welcome investment in Jersey’s connectivity which brings capacity for thousands of additional visitors to enjoy everything our Island has to offer. I know that Ports of Jersey and Visit Jersey will be working with Jet2 and our local hospitality industry to make the most of this opportunity and deliver a further boost to this important sector.”

The Chief Executive of Visit Jersey, Tricia Warwick, said: “Jet2’s decision to add new routes and increased capacity to Jersey is a significant boost for the island and our visitor economy. Connectivity is crucial for Jersey, and this expanded access will make it easier for more visitors to experience our beautiful island. We look forward to continued collaboration with Jet2 and Ports of Jersey to further strengthen Jersey’s position as a visitor destination.”

Jet2 currently fly between Jersey and East Midlands, Leeds Bradford and Newcastle. Twice weekly flights to Bournemouth, an extra weekly flight to Newcastle, and an extended season to Leeds Bradford and East Midlands start in summer 2026.

Ports of Jersey will collaborate closely with Visit Jersey to promote the island to prospective visitors.
