Ports of Jersey was incorporated in 2015 to provide essential, lifeline services in a commercial and sustainable manner whilst bridging a projected funding shortfall of £300m.

Connectivity and customer

  • Expand Jersey’s connectivity to enhance the lives of islanders and support our economy
  • Work with Government to secure robust and resilient life-line ferry services
  • Put the customer at the heart of what we do, making travel faster, friendlier and easier
  • Embrace new technology to deliver efficiencies, add value and bring a Jersey sense of place
  • Support the Government and our business partners to grow the visitor economy

Investing in Jersey

  • Investing in critical infrastructure, ensuring its resilience with the capacity to meet future demand
  • Regenerating our estate at the harbour to support maritime and visitor economies, whilst creating vibrant facilities to benefit the whole island
  • Introduce a Jersey sense of place to the airport and harbour to create a strong first and last impression of Jersey
  • Expand the marine services business, diversifying our income whilst supporting sustainable innovation and entering new markets
  • Develop gateways that are accessible to all, whilst unlocking the value in all our assets

Building a sustainable future

  • Net zero in respect of our own emissions by 2030
  • Support our business partners and value chain to reduce their green house gas (GHG) emissions in line with JetZero and UK DfT maritime decarbonisation targets
  • No net loss of biodiversity in all capital projects by 2030 and a net positive biodiversity impact in exterior capital projects by 2035
  • Reduce our potable water use by 20% (v2019) by 2030
  • Support Government and sister entities to provide sustainable choices for islanders, visitors and investors
  • Invest more than 1,000 hours into community projects

  • Build a sustainable European network incrementally
  • Enable closer cultural links with Northern France
  • Secure connectivity to a second major European hub
  • Ensure sustainable links through airline partnerships
  • Increase Jersey’s destination awareness to attract and retain visitors
  • Develop Jersey Airport as a regional hub for the Channel Islands

Maritime connection and supply chain

Our priorities are to:

  • Ensure robust, resilient, long-term and competitive shipping links to Jersey
  • Deliver a secure and efficient supply chain for the Island
  • Promote safe and sustainable operations in our ports and waters
  • Enable better customer experience and enhanced connectivity in ferry services
  • Work with Government and partners to contribute to a vibrant harbour
  • Implement the Island’s new marina strategy, supporting future growth
  • Enhance commercial opportunities for the benefit of the Island

Investments in critical infrastructure

Our priorities are to:

  • Develop a sustainable solution for the Harbour masterplan and the Airport masterplan
  • Align gateway infrastructure development with Island plans
  • Invest in technology to provide efficient and enhanced customer-focused services
  • Ensure continuing compliance through infrastructure and improvement
  • Continue to deliver fit-for-purpose offices
  • Update and modernise operational equipment

Public service obligation

Our priorities are to:

  • Co-ordinating or providing resources for maritime search and rescue within the Jersey search and rescue region
  • Maintenance of aids to navigation in territorial waters
  • Acting as custodian of Jersey Harbours
  • Enforcement of shipping legislation in territorial waters
  • Carrying out certain Port Control State functions

Our redesigned Departure Lounge will be a brighter, calmer and more distinctly Jersey space for passengers to enjoy their journey.

Redevelopment of La Folie

La Folie has been closed to the public for many years, and its buildings have deteriorated significantly. Ports of Jersey is committed to protecting the integrity of the structures while enabling a development that will activate the surrounding area, complement the port environment, and strengthen Jersey’s visitor economy.

Since the launch of Ports’ Planet and People Plan in 2022, tremendous progress has been made.
