Ports Pathway 2024
From Port of Jersey
3rd April 2024
Ports of Jersey has opened its 2024 apprenticeship and traineeship programme to applicants. Ports Pathway offers the opportunity to work in one of Jersey’s most diverse organisations.
The programme aims to develop candidates from within the Island and to support succession planning. Previous trainees have gained experience in a range of disciplines, earning a competitive salary while they learn on the job, while being supported through professional qualifications and courses.
Ports Pathway is now offering the following apprenticeships, traineeships, and internships:
- Engineering trainee– Group Technical Services has more than 25 roles within the department, ranging from fitters and mechanics to technical support officers and planning engineers.
- Electrical apprentice – a three-year apprenticeship programme, combining practical on-the-job training with part-time study at Highlands college.
- Maritime traineeship– a foundation year to work in areas including Ports Operations, Jersey Marinas, Jersey Coastguard and Marine Services.
- Paid internships– for degree students or graduates based on their career ambitions and tailored to each individual.
HR Manager Ellie Cousins, who manages the programme, said: “These training schemes can help bring in and develop talent so that we can be prepared for the future skills needs. They’re a great opening for people at the start of their career and will help them understand the kinds of roles that we can offer, by giving them hands-on experience and support.”
The deadline for applications is 14 April and placements will begin in September. Further information is available online.
Ports of Jersey will also continue to offer work experience placements, Project Trident, and shadowing opportunities throughout the year.
