A delegation from Ports of Jersey is attending the Southampton International Boat Show this week. The Show runs from 15-24 September and Jersey’s Harbour Master, Captain Bill Sadler, is leading a team of four representatives from Jersey Marinas.

The team is working with counterparts from Guernsey, Alderney and Normandy, to promote their maritime area as the finest cruising grounds in northern Europe.

Captain Sadler said: “We’re proud to work with our colleagues from the other Channel Islands and France to showcase our own and neighbouring ports. We have a positive working relationship with our neighbouring marinas and are combining to market the wider maritime area.

“It’s a fantastic place to sail around and we want to encourage sailors to come to our part of the world. It’s not about competing with each other, but about promoting our little corner of the globe to sailors.

“The Boat Show is also a great opportunity for maritime organisations to get together, learn from each other and keep up to date with professional developments.”

The Ports of Jersey team is also promoting the Jersey Boat Show while in Southampton, talking to potential exhibitors about sustainability in boating and other matters of interest to the Jersey boating community.
