New food & beverage operator appointed at St Helier Harbour

Ports of Jersey has entered into a new 2-year agreement with local company JPRestaurants to launch its Café Ubé offering at the Elizabeth Terminal, St Helier Harbour.
The company owns Jersey Crab Shack, Oyster Box and Banjo restaurants in the Island and plans to replicate its equally successful Café Ubé brand at the harbour in the former Shipyard Restaurant, providing a hot and cold ‘grab-and-go’ offering as well as a bar and hot drinks service, similar to that currently offered at Jersey Airport. As travel numbers pick up, and depending on demand, the offer may evolve to provide food service at table and more substantial dishes than those currently offered by Café Ubé.
Due to current COVID restrictions and a reduction in passenger sailings, JPRestaurants plans to open the new harbour facility at Easter. The company will also be offering a ‘Click & Collect’ service, which will allow passengers to order food and refreshments in advance of traveling.
The agreement comes following an Expressions of Interest and tender process carried out by Ports of Jersey in November 2020. JPRestaurants has provided the Café Ubé provision at Jersey Airport since July 2020 on an initial 9-month lease, which has recently been extended until the end of 2023.
The Shipyard Restaurant was formerly operated by UK owned operator, Casual Dining Group, which went in administration last year as a result of the Covid pandemic effect on its businesses.
