Albert Pier cable replacement
From Jersey Marinas
16th February 2023
Work is due to start on Monday (20 February) to replace an old electrical cable which runs along Albert Pier. The cable, which runs from the hire car area to the town end of the pier, supplies power to the lifeboat station, the nearby café and the Boat Show, and is becoming unreliable.
The work to replace the cable and to install ducts for the new cable will be done in two phases. Phase one starts at the hire car area and will finish just past the barrier which marks the start of permit parking.
The work will involve the digging up of the old cable and the installation of new ducts. A new cable will then be pulled through the ducts. The use of ducts will provide easy access for future cable repairs or replacements, without having to dig up the road.
This phase is due to be completed on Friday 14th April, and traffic management will be in place until then.
Phase two of the cable replacement will begin after the Jersey Boat Show, and those affected will be informed when dates are confirmed.
