Air and sea passenger figures - August 2019

Commercial air passenger numbers through Jersey Airport have risen for the seventh consecutive month in 2019 recording a total of 195,703 for August. As a result, year to date we have exceeded the one million air passenger mark and currently stand at 1,167238, which is almost +40,000 passengers up on the same period in 2018 (+3.5%)


While the majority of air services remain on a par with 2018 figures, we have seen an increase in Channel Islands traffic (+20%) as well as the north-west (+14%). Easyjet continues to hold the market share at 28.3%, followed by British Airways (23.3%), Flybe (18.3%) and Blue Islands (15.3%)


In terms of sea passengers, August 2019 saw an increase of +3% for the month and year to date stand at 501,502 compared to 496,152 for the same period in 2018 (+1%). However, vehicles are down by -11% so far for the year. Meanwhile, freight and fuel tonnage currently stand at +7% and +6% respectively for the year.
