RNLI beach lifeguards service

RNLI Beach Lifeguards operate on four beaches in the island from May through to September. They provide a Beach Lifeguard Service at St Ouen, St Brelade’s Bay, Plémont beach and Grève de Lecq beach.

  • The St Ouen’s Bay team are based at the Lifeguard Centre at El Tico and have Beach Lifeguard Units at La Braye and Le Port car park, midway between El Tico and The Water Splash.
  • The Plémont look-out hut is sited above the Plémont Café at the top of the steps leading to the beach.
  • The St Brelade’s Bay team have a Beach Lifeguard Unit above the public toilets, at the Western end of the bay.
  • Grève de Lecq has a Beach Lifeguard unit located in the centre of the bay.

Their normal operating hours are between 10am and 6pm.

They also do provide extra patrols at the Le Braye beach area during the school Easter holiday and the autumn half term break.

There are also Lifeguards on patrol at the Havre des Pas Bathing Pool from the end of May to beginning of September.

If you plan to go in the sea for a swim or paddle, look out for the swimming area that is marked by the ‘Red over Yellow’ flags. This also indicates the lifeguards are out on patrol. If the ‘Red Flag’ is flying, do not enter the water. More information on lifeguards and flags is available in the flyer.
