Coastguard Safety Identification Scheme

The Coastguard Safety Identification Scheme (C-SIS) is a free initiative that allows users to register with Jersey Coastguard any personal water crafts (PWCs), which are not included in the local ships registry. It can be difficult for Jersey Coastguard to locate the owners of these craft if they are lost and come ashore or found adrift within our territorial waters. This can result in the unnecessary launching of emergency services. PWCs included in the scheme are: Kayaks/Canoes, Paddle Boards, Tenders, Wind Surfs, Surfboards, Kite Surfs, Rowing Boats, Sailing Dinghies or any craft under 3 meters in length with a speed less than 12 knots.
